Great news. The boat is launched and ready for paddling every Sunday morning, weather permitting. We do not paddle in inclement weather.
Paddles last for approximately one, to one-and-a-half hours.
How it works
Please arrive no later than 8:15 AM to sign in, select a paddle, and be ready when we start the 10 minutes of warm up exercises. By 8:30 AM, we are in the boat, ready to push off from the dock.
Please note, the boat holds about twenty-two paddlers. If we have more paddlers than seats, the priority is for members to take the seats before guests. If we have more members than seats, the twenty-two who sign in first take the seats.
Paddlers pair up and walk single file to the boat. Seating order is directed by the Coach and Steerperson.
Before leaving the dock, the Coach and Steersperson will ensure the weight distribution in the boat is correct, making any seat adjustments as necessary.
Attendance
Attendance at any regular paddle is voluntary, there is no requirement to attend paddles. If a special event paddle is planned, details and confirmation of attendance will be requested from our members via e-mail.
Cancellation Policy
There are two reasons that paddles are cancelled, both of which are beyond the control of the organizers. Both relate to safety, which we take seriously.
- We are often at the mercy of the weather and lake conditions. If a paddle is cancelled due to weather conditions and the cancellation is known 1/2 hr. before practice time, a Board member will email those on the email list.
- We have a minimum number that we require for safe paddling. It happens sometimes that an insufficient number of paddlers show up for a paddle, which we won’t know until it happens. So we would be unable to email a notification within a 1/2 hr of paddling start time. Paddlers present would be notified of the cancellation at that time.
The best part of the paddle is the exercise, no, wait, it’s the experience of calm and quiet on the lake, no, it’s the camaraderie, yes, definitely the great people you’ll meet.
