The COVID-19 pandemic shut our team paddling season down for a second year. We do miss our time in the Dark Water Dragon Boat.
The season’s one event was the invasive weed pull on July 9, 2021, to help our marina. This year, the Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society (CKISS) targeted white daisy, St. John’s Wort and Knapweed. Thanks to the team members who came out to tackle the serious problem of invasive species.
What we learned from our hard work in hot sun is this: Please, wash and dry everything that’s been in another water body before you put into our lake. We don’t want our mostly healthy lake invaded with its version of a pandemic.
Annual General Meeting: 17 October, 2021
We are very tired of the pandemic, and look forward to a paddling season when we can put our Dragon Boat in beautiful Slocan Lake.
